#2 Seek the TRUTH

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”

As I have thought of some of my favorite verses of the Bible I found that I have a few that speak to my heart more than others, which is important because the Word of God is living and not stagnant.  The great I am statements are powerful because Jesus is saying that no one gets to heaven without going to through him.  I do not question the statement because I am follower of my Lord and Savior Jesus the Son of God.  I have thought of being a man who would walk with others and I would be willing to share my faith to others so they could understand the message of Jesus.  I know many people have felt like they were being pushed or made to feel guilty so they would accept Jesus into their lives.  I do not believe Jesus uses methods like so many “Christians” we have met along the way used to force our people to believe in God.  The statement Jesus made above is not being jammed down our throats but you can choose to believe what he is saying or not.

I was meditating on this verse because I wholeheartedly believe in what Jesus is saying.  I was thinking about destinations and in order to arrive at goal you must get in your car or start walking because you need to move.  So, if we want LIFE we must be on the WAY but there is also a bridge that we must cross to move from the WAY to the LIFE.  The bridge is the TRUTH because when you want to arrive you must have TRUTH and this is a very powerful statement.  If death comes to your door it would mean you did not follow the TRUTH and your WAY was the wrong way.  I get frustrated when people who use GPS and do not follow the WAY and want to go their own way and end up on a false and then we just wander around.  I know GPS is flawed because mankind has developed it but when you are speaking about the path to LIFE and the Creator gave you the WAY and TRUTH there is no flaw.

As I have traveled many miles I have relied on maps and people because they have been there before.  I realize people want to make their own way but I have seen so many people fail when they try to follow their own way or end up lost.  The question Jesus was answering was from Thomas who did not know where Jesus was going after Jesus told them he was going to prepare a place in heaven for them and that is when Thomas said they did not know where he was going.  It is a great way to ask Thomas and the others to Trust him because they were worried.  I have been known to worry about things in my life and then I remember that God is seeking to help me.  Even when things seem difficult I can trust that God will give me the WAY and I can be comforted in the guidance from the Holy Spirit.

When I became a Follower of Jesus I immediately became a citizen of heaven.  I love so many promises from God because like the Apostle Paul stated, for him to live is Christ and to die is gain.  When you see all of the events happening around the world you can trust God to bring you through all of your struggles.  We have all suffered in this world and we have pain and heartache because we are in a fallen world.  I often use this verse in my conversations because it is important to know the TRUTH and once you find the TRUTH you will be free from the worries of this world.  I am not afraid of the end of the world because I trust the words of my Savior.  I would only ask one thing of you as a fellow human being and this would be to seek the TRUTH!
